I found this sign whem passing through Amsterdam airport a while ago. The sign was located in the arrivals hall and Citizen M is a Hotel. so far so good. every airport has a Morgue or facility that can be converted to a Morgue in the event of a crash. I have never seen any sineage to that facility. clearly Amsterdam think a sign is needed.
in most countries tempoary traffic lights are just that, Traffic lights. Not in Ontario Canada. the light flashes red, the arm comes down and traffic stops, It perfectly possible to dive round the barrier if you wanted to avoid stopping. I cant see the point of the barrier, it just seems like more parts to break or go wrong.
I think its fair to say there is more information than required here. you are told that something you cant see, you cant but becuase its sold.
One of the many problems with the transformation of news to a 24 hour cycle is that it is never goes away even when its aged. this can lead to the above problems when the cycle moved quickly. what is the actual case here, is the pound up or down?
I have been away for quite a while and am going to try to get back into this. to start things off I will do a few quick "loat in translation" type of posts. this was the choice of accomodation on the French Covid registration form. You were clearly not going to select "I dont know" because you were going to have additional questions to answer and in Covid you didnt want that. I took a guess that Individual Accomodation included a Hotel.
The conference I am at had arranged for VIP transfers for all the delegates, I disembarked from the aircraft to find someone with a board with my name on it, ey escorted me directly to the front of the covid test check queue, a cursory glance by the document checker and we were on our way to VIP channel with no queue, I had no baggage so it was straight through customs and in the back of the Lexus on the way to the Hotel in 14 minutes. The Traffic was light and I was in the room in the hotel 45 minutes after leaving the aircraft. I followed the same process as I would have done if I was a “normal” passenger but without the queuing, that sort of luxury is very welcome after a long flight and lifts the spirits…. I can understand why private jet transport is so popular with people who can afford it.
I have been very quiet on here
for the last couple of years, the inspiration left me partly because I god
fixed into the same close loop of destinations and not a lot was standing out
to me and partly because covid stopped the world. Enough has been written about
covid and how it affected the world and I cant add anything that has not
already been said much more eloquently by others.
This post is about my first long
haul trip since 18 months ago, I have made a few European trips and what I have
found is that every country is in roughly the same position and domestically
fairly relaxed. There is, however, still a fear that travellers will bring the
disease across borders and there is a reasonably tight regime of paperwork and
testing in place at all borders. What this means is that I am in fact more
relaxed around other travellers as I know they have been tested whereas I am much
more cautious about locals who don’t have the same restrictions.
Traveling outside of Europe heightened
all my senses, the flight was just like a normal flight apart from the masks we
arrived in the evening just after dark in Dubai and it was great to hear the noises
of the aircraft as the flaps came down and see all the different nationalities
as we walked through the terminal, the drive to the hotel will all the lights
of the city … its great to be back.
there is a bot of me that does like a luxury hotel as well .... and they do those very well in Dubai.
